Evaluation & Management

Tinnitus is ringing or buzzing noise in your ears that may be constant or come and go. Tinnitus is often a symptom of or associated with hearing loss.

Tinnitus can sound like: Ringing, Squealing, Hissing, Whooshing, Crickets, Buzzing, Static, Roaring, and more.

Quick Facts:

1

Tinnitus is often one of the first signs of underlying hearing loss.

2

Tinnitus can be made worse by noise exposure, stress, certain medications, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco and salt.

3

Tinnitus does not cause hearing loss or make hearing loss worse.

4

If you have hearing loss, hearing aids can help to relieve your tinnitus.

Your audiologist will work with you to determine any possible contributors to your tinnitus and explore options to help manage your symptoms.

Ear Wax Removal

Ear Wax Removal

Cerumen, also known as earwax, typically clears itself from the ears, but in some instances can accumulate and cause a blockage. Removal methods include manual extraction or irrigation. Irrigation is the most common method your audiologist will use to remove earwax blockages.

If you are experiencing ear pain or discomfort, it may be as a result of earwax accumulation, or if you suspect you have an ear blockage, schedule a consultation as soon as possible to address the issue.

We offer gentle and effective wax removal services starting at $40 out of pocket fee.

Diagnostic Hearing Evaluation

Diagnostic HEARING
Evaluation

The first step to better hearing
is understanding
your current hearing status.

At Waterloo Audiology we start each evaluation with asking some questions to get a better sense of your history, hearing concerns, and listening needs. Next we will complete a thorough evaluation of your ears and hearing system. This will include:

1

A visual examination of the ears

2

A status check of your eardrum and middle ear space

3

Tone testing to determine your hearing sensitivity

4

Speech testing to evaluate how well you hear in quiet and noisy situations

Once the evaluation is completed your audiologist will spend time with you going over your results and treatment options. Each patient will receive an individualized treatment plan to improve their overall hearing.
